Chicago Union Station

The historic Chicago Union Station needed a new commercial roof system with custom-designed architectural copper sheet metal flashings.

Summary:

L. Marshall Roofing and Sheet Metal was hired to rebuild the roof of the historic Chicago Union Station. A traditional built-up roof system with custom-designed architectural copper sheet metal flashings was installed by L. Marshall. The replacement specifications matched the original roof and sheet metal custom designs.

The unique design of the building made it difficult to transport materials to and from the roof level. To facilitate debris removal and materials delivery, L. Marshall fabricated a custom scaffolding system along the outside of the building.

The project was challenging due to continuous commuter train activity. With round-the-clock public access and vehicle traffic, L. Marshall coordinated with the roof consultant and the Amtrak facility team to prevent any project disruption.

The project was completed under budget, ahead of schedule and incident-free.
